Charity

Please note: After receiving a wonderfully large number of book donations to the Bull Market Books reading program, I’ve decided to end the donation period as of 5/8/2013.

However, I’ll be looking for & thinking about new opportunities which might help encourage self-empowerment & personal development in Brazil.

I will publish and/or announce any interesting findings.

Thanks for your support,

****Orginal Bull Market Books Comment****

Greetings,

My name is Tekoa Da Silva, and I’m the publisher of Bull Market Thinking. I’d like to thank you for visiting my site, and in particular, my charity page. I’ve struggled over the last year in trying to conceive an idea for a charitable program to encourage independence, self-empowerment, and personal growth in emerging Latin countries, beginning with Brazil.

After spending more than a year on the ground in Brazil learning about the cultural attitudes and needs of different classes of society, I’ve come to one major conclusion: The best way to help the widest group of people possible, is through education, with particular emphasis on English-based learning.

There is a burning desire among today’s young generation of Brazilians to learn and speak English. They are listening to Katy Perry, watching all the new Hollywood movies, and returning to their homes every day excited at having learned a new “American” expression or word in English.

Therefore, as of 1/19/2013, I have begun a program entitled, Bull Market Books. It is a program in which donated books, DVD’s, and music CD’s are collected and added to the English-language section of the “Biblioteca Publica Do Espirito Santo“, which means the -”Public Library of the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil.”

As of today’s date shown above, the library has a few shelves of books in English—however, most of them were published before the 1950s, and are written in outdated forms of “Old English”. Additionally, there are no self-development books in English of any kind.

Now, you may be asking—Why books? Why should I care? Why don’t these young people take English classes or online learning courses?

“Literacy & Power: Inextricably Linked

These are good questions. The challenge is that many of these young people come from families and areas so poor, they may never have a chance to learn online at home with a computer, or have access to a course in English. For many of these children, a life of crime, drugs, & teenage-pregnancy can only be transcended through physically opening a book or watching a fascinating movie—either of which might inspire them to reach for better things.

I hope you can contribute to that.

If you wish to make a difference by contributing a book, movie, or CD to, “Bull Market Books“, please send me a note through the Contact Page, or you can directly send learning materials to the mailing address shown below. Once I receive your material, I will add your company name, or first name and last initial(Anonymous is fine too), to the “Bull Market Book Donors” section of my website (found on sidebar). Your material donation will then be added to the shelves at ”Biblioteca Publica Do Espirito Santo“. Additional libraries will be added in the future.

The target age range for the program material is between the ages of 4-12, with category emphasis on children’s books, faith, & inspiration/self-development.

If you have the desire to contribute resources and/or ideas of other kinds, please send me a note through the Contact Page.

Additionally, if you represent a corporation or business and would like to create a press release telling the story of your donation, I would be happy to help you write it.
